Toyota Brings More Than Just New Models to Detroit

Metro Toyota in Cleveland, OH is pleased to see that Toyota is truly making a difference in Detroit. And we aren't just talking about the new Toyota models and concepts released at the recent North American International Auto Show. While the Auto Show offerings certainly invigorated our minds, a slightly different kind Toyota initiative warmed our hearts. As part of the Detroit community's "Walk in My Boots" project, the concerned automaker donated 150 pairs of winter boots to women and children at the local Salvation Army.
Supplied by the outdoor retailer, Moosejaw, the boots will provide warmth for the feet of many who find themselves temporarily out of a home. One grateful recipient, Monique Hudson, says her daughters are overjoyed to be getting such a toasty treat. For Hudson, the real prize comes in knowing that her children will be able to walk happily and comfortably to school when snow starts to fall.
In addition to providing footwear, Toyota also bestowed a monetary gift of $10,000 to the Salvation Army. This donation will help bolster the organization's programs such as the Denby Center in Detroit which provides transitional housing for families in need.
Though the brand's expertise comes in the form of car-making, Metro Toyota isn't surprised to see Toyota reaching out in the realm of non-profits as well. The automaker understands that in order to be a thriving part of the nation's economy, it's important to help strengthen its communities. After all, Detroit gave Toyota and other automakers a chance to show off their very best side, it only makes sense that the favor would be returned.
