Practice Makes Perfect for Toyota Vehicle Safety

"Practice makes perfect" is a saying oft applied to athletes, musicians and creators of any kind. We at Metro Toyota believe the philosophy also extends to automotive artists like Toyota. Sure, consumers may not think of their latest Toyota Corolla as a work of art. But they may also neglect to consider the hours of practice and patience that engineers put into perfectly sculpting the safest, most innovative models they can. For this reason, we're here to give you a behind-the-scenes look at the work that goes into producing ingenious Toyota safety features.
For almost a year now, the energy behind protective vehicle advancements for new Toyota models has pulsed from one of Toyota's most concentrated veins: the Collaborative Safety Research Center. Built to keep Toyota at the forefront of vehicle safety, the CSRC has already undertaken 17 projects and collaborated with 12 unique institutions. Most recently, the automaker joined forces with the likes of Virginia Tech, George Washington University, the University of Iowa and the University of Virginia to move forward on the following projects.
- THOR Dummy FE Model Creation- Abdominal Injury Study
- Task Analytic and Time Series Analysis of Driver Behavior
- Whole Body THUMS Validation
To place these initiatives in easier terms, Toyota and its partners will explore the areas of crash modeling research, drivers' behavior in the early stages of the driving sequence (i.e. getting into the car, engine start-up, etc.) and the relationship between crash-related abdominal injuries and driver age.
It would take a great deal of time to fully explain each of the automaker's new safety initiatives. Therefore, if you're interested in learning more, please don't hesitate to contact Metro Toyota online or swing by 13775 Brookpark Road Cleveland, OH 44142 when you have some time.
