Check Your Tires to Save Money

·         Incorrect tire pressure and uneven alignment can result in tire wear. Also, because of the weight distribution in the car, the front tires can wear out more quickly than the rear ones.

·         Low air pressure causes tires to overheat and leads to excessive tread wear. Too much air pressure causes uneven wear. Both can lead to safety concerns and possibly a new set of tires. Check or have a mechanic check your tire pressure at least once a month.

Summer Road Trip Tips

With summer approaching, you may be planning a trip on the open road.   Before venturing out into the great beyond, you might consider following a few tips that can save you money, time and possibly a major inconvenience:

·         Cooling system (radiator): flush and refill according to the service manual's instructions. The level, condition and concentration of the coolant should be checked periodically. Important - first let the engine cool down before removing the radiator cap.

·         Safety and convenience, inspect all lights and bulbs, and replace any that are burned out.

·         Replace worn wiper blades and always have plenty of washer solvent on-hand to combat summer's dust and insects.

·         Read your owner's manual and follow recommended service schedules for your specific vehicle.
